Just came back from ~8 yr hiatus from the game this month (damn it has changed). I have always been a casual f2p 100% player but was a bit miffed at my top two tanks being so out of the new meta (a T25at and a T20, fun on the right map but so passive).
Decided to spend my first money on the game ever on just 3 NYE boxes, was hoping for a VIII heavy (the caliban looks real fun to me, is that weird?) but that is what, maybe 6% odds?
I got a M-IV-Y in the 3rd and final. Hull down monster, untrackable, good gun, highly mobile. Perfect fun for a casual like me who doesn't even get too bothered when others can hit the cupola. Got a 1st tier tanker on Erlenberg already just sitting in the ruined building on the west side of the bridge. That turret is a monster, and you have almost 180 degrees of coverage.
So as the stories of bad rng roll in, and my heart goes out to all of you, maybe this story of a veteran noob getting lucky will warm your heart. Or, more likely, create heaps of salt. Sorry!
