A bit inspired by SU-100Y and its ammo selection and somewhat by the tanks that can use several guns effectively. For those who don't know/remember, SU-100Y is unique in its available ammo in that its premium rounds actually has lower penetration from the normal ones, but higher damage by a bit. Both of those rounds are AP. Some tanks also can effectively use several guns (i.e. both ARLs can do fine with either 105 or 90) with different stats.
Do you suppose similar changes could be introduced to other tanks loadouts? Not specifically the same as in SU, but stuff like different type of ammo with higher speed/pen and lower damage tradeoff, ammo influencing the gun stats (i.e. "premium" shells being less accurate/taking longer to reload) or other changes that would make them "different" instead of being straight out upgrade to the existing "normal" round. If the changes would result in the heavily armoured tanks being too strong, they would be rebalanced around that as well.
If the ammo behaved like on SU-100Y, would you prefer to use lower damage, but higher pen ammo, or stick with higher-damage but lower pen, assuming the former would allow hitting more areas on some tanks?
Of course, I'm not taking into account the economical issues that it would bring, as the game is currently balanced around the fact that you need to farm credits to shoot gold at higher tiers, which motivates players to spend money. I'm more interested in purely gameplay-wise opinions.
TL;DR Gold ammo changes from an direct upgrade to alternative.
