Secret Sound Mechanics/Bugs

This is a short summary on stuff regarding sound and noises that are not obvious to new players and might even be new to more experienced players. One might assume if you hear a sound in Tarkov others can hear it as well. While this is true for most sounds, there are cases where you hear sounds that others can't and the other way around. So here is a list of all the cases I know of where there is a difference in what users normally would expect of sounds:

1. You can sneak silently without others hearing anything, if your speed is at the minimum while your crouched. You can hear yourself sneaking, but others can't. The weight of your character doesn't matter for this.
2. If you are standing still or if you are crouched, and then start turning around, you might make a sound while turning. Your character will make a sound when you see your pmc repositioning his feet, even if you don't hear the sound yourself, others can hear it.
3. If you're out of stamina from running and breathing heavily, you can cancel the breathing by aiming down sight (ads) and holding your breath shortly. But this only works if your stamina bar is in the blue and others will still hear you breathing heavily. So it only allows you to hear better but you're still making noise.
4. A better way to cancel heavy breathing is to press F1 and make a voiceline. This also cancels your heavy breathing sound for enemies and not just for yourself.
5. If you're out of stamina while holding your breath, you yourself can hear the heavy breating that occurs, but others can't.
6. When using side step left or right (default: alt+q/alt+e) while proned you can lean more to the left or right. If you are in this extreme lean and stay in ads for an extended time you will start to breath heavily. This can be heard by others but not by yourself. So if you are not aware of this, you will make noise without knowing it.
7. Changing the zeroing makes noise for others, but you yourself can't hear the noise. It's the same sound that occurs while changing the scope magnification.
8. You can change the firemode silently by checking the firemode and then quickly changing the firemode. This is silent for you and others, but only if your weapon doesn't make a sound while checking the firemode.
9. Only you can hear the sound of loading bullets into a mag in your inventory.
10. While healing, eating, drinking or using stimulants you can drop your backpack silently with double z (default).
11. While healing you can change the mag instantly via rightclick reload/install and it doesn't play the reload sound.
12. Suppresors have a value that shows how much they reduce the sound. This value can completely be ignored. There is no difference worth mentioning.
