Hail, Vikings- I've been playing on a server with friends for a couple of months now and we've gotten into the Mountains and are fighting our way through wolves, golems and fenrings.
One thing I love about this game is the challenge every biome poses, whether it's the trolls in Black Forest or getting around the water and poison in Swamps. But I also have found once you progress past a biome, nothing in that biome is really a challenge or a threat anymore, even though you occasionally have to revisit old stomping grounds and resupply certain things.
My GF and I found a troll cave while exploring that had a 1-star troll in it, and that was super exciting for us, our first 1-star troll. It was a really tough fight even though we had killed like 30 normal trolls at that point and fully upgraded our Black Forest armor. It reminded me of the terror of fighting a troll for the first time, and having to respect their power.
I thought- "What if when you kill a boss, all of the enemies in that biome now always spawn with at least 1-star?" I get really excited for the challenge of 1-star/2-star enemies in normal play but once I've mastered a biome I really ache for something tough to show up when I'm out exploring around. Maybe this could be a difficulty setting added in a future update? I think since the star system already exists in the game, it's a pretty simple way of implementing a scaling difficulty mode. Apart from Greydwarves, pretty much any enemy with at least one star deserves a little bit of respect.
Also 3-star enemies when?
