The fully engineered version is twice as strong but even a grade 3 engineered version gets you 70% of the way here for much less time/effort.

Those lovely things called military armor and hull reinforcements and shield boosters are there to make your ship stronger. Use them.
Do not fly around in a ship that can explode if a piece of dust gets dislodged, then complain you got blown up.
