When Mita Kondria was a child repairing limpets for her father in the dark rings of the Omega Mining Colony, she was enraptured by the stories her father would tell of Old Earth’s greatest explorers and adventurers: Lewis and Clark, Shackleton and Amundsen, Hilary and Norgay…but the stories that captivated her most were those of Steve Zissou and his friend/rival Alistair Hennessey.
Not much about them survived World War III but what little grainy footage that did fueled a young Mita’s imagination. She made a vow to someday assemble the greatest assemblage of explorers, adventurers, scientists, documentarians and ruffians the galaxy has ever seen—their exploits to rival Zissou’s Seige of Citroen, the dangerous Hunt For The Water Jaguar Thing, and even his lightning strike Ping Island Exploits.
…where the only answer to the question “Wait, why are we doing this again?” is to “get more material” for the “documentary” to show at the “film festival”.
Team Zissou 3K is now looking for exemplary members, from new people all the way to experienced commanders, from positions all the way from Intern (must share a sidearm) to Master Spaceman, capable of running a B-squad. Report to the carrier Belafonte Five, currently orbiting Ehi 6, waiting for the funding to come through. Don’t ask Mita what happened to Belafonte Four–it’s too soon.
