In all other views of the galaxy map you see a small bubble area to zoom in/out of, like this… and this makes panning around easier (certainly with mouse)…
But with realistic view you get all the foreground stars as well/rather than the actual area where you are currently centred – this makes it exceptionally hard to pan around to look for interesting things like black holes, without accidentally triggering route plotting, especially irritating when trying to select a next carrier jump and you trigger it, then have to go back in and cancel the jump you didn't want.
