I thought I was going to play a nice relaxing game of Valheim last night. I had recently been to the swamps on a different island and brought back about 100 chunks of iron ore. I was conserving food since I was in my main base, no swamps nearby. I also had walls up around most of my base – but not all of it.
I'm making trips to the get wood so I could turn it into coal, so I could make iron bars. Getting dark, I only had a hunk of meat in my belly and it was flashing. No problem, I go to sleep. Now, all hell breaks loose.
My wife calls me right as I wake up and is telling me about something annoying. If you are married, you know you need to answer the calls and talk or you might be accused of ignoring your spouse.
Well, I get the message saying I smell something in the swamp. I arm myself but get hit by a bunch of arrows. Remember how I didn't have any good in my belly? I'm trying to talk to my wife, eat food, have low stamina. I died.
Wake up – my lodge has several skeletons and draugrs in it. They are blocking the door. I'm also in my underwear and have no weapon since I died. I got killed about 15-20 times before I could finally get out of the house and get my stuff.
Lost two beehives, a few campfires in my lodge, a workbench, and said I lost skills.
Morals of the story: make sure you keep food in your belly, and I guess keep extra weapons/armor in your lodge. I had some in the shack I built when I started, but hadn't moved stuff over yet. I guess I also need to tighten up my walls.
