I hope I’m not alone in thinking that this game could use a greater diversity of animals and mobs. I think with two or three additional creatures in each biome the game would not only feel like a more immersive world, but open up new gameplay options.
In the dark forest you could add bears who act as proximity based aggressive mobs, like boars or necks. They’re tough, but could offer harder to acquire materials like bear hide and meat. At highest star levels they could act as mini bosses or tamed mobs.
In the Mountains herds of mountain goats would not only give the wolves and players something to eat, but also make for a hazard on cliffs. If you get too close to a goat you might get knocked off. Ambitious players might even be able to domesticate them. Eagles would make for a visually beautiful addition, and a source of feathers if you’re callous.
The Mistlands would benefit from having more animals instead of just hostile mobs. Irish Elk could be cool visually. They’re huge elk, the size of a North American Moose, and could be similar in design to Eikthyr. Default hostile Dvergr would be cool so that you can fight magician dwarves without murdering otherwise nice folks.
And lastly walrus and seals could be cool things to find on the coasts. Sea leather might be a useful item with which to craft ships.
Any ideas?
