Returning commander here. I picked the game up a couple of weeks ago after 3 years or so. Took a day to remember how to even fly the ship, and an embarrassing post on this very sub to remember that the FSS even existed.
I woke up deep in the black and made my 100 jumps home. Decided that I should just immediately plot a road trip to Sag A* by way of a few points of interest, and headed out on my 600 jump way. 200 jumps in I remembered I had an SRV on board, but was too scared to risk landing on a planet, since I barely remembered how to. Finally made it to a waypoint, sold my 300 billion credits worth of data, and made Elite 1 in Exploration, which I didn't even know was a thing. I thought Elite was as high as it went.
Anyway, the very next system I picked out a planet to land on. Only one planet in system had geological features, but it was well over 1.5 earth masses so I picked a little ice moon instead. Jumped in my moon buggy and…
Y'all, this sucks. I spent like 45 minutes driving around for one stupid little rock outcropping, gathering materials I didn't need. The SRV controls are stupid, there's no bindings for throttle percentage, there's too much manual targeting, too much repositioning to find the thing you've targeted, and no real payoff. Am I missing something, or is this content just generally not fun?
