best hard hitting weapon selection

Hello i recently, just an hour ago, completed my first space legs mission. a restore mission. i know what people might say, ive not touched space legs stuff in a few years. i got oddessy when it came out on pre order and it was laggy and buggy as hell. ive not touched the oddessy since and just recently im wanting to do that. so i decided id start something easy

on my first restore mission i ran into "scavangers" so i figured id pop the guys with my ship and call it good. id have the run of the base to myself. but a ship launched and im sure most oddessy veterens will know that brings more troops to attack you.

and well i failed that mission. but i came up with an interesting question.

what weapons can i toss onto my krait that i can use to hit any landed ship hard and prevent it from running and getting help? i had thought about a rail gun and hit the power plant or engine or something. but i wonder what you guys opinion is.

what should i do to hit a landed ship hard and quick to keep it on the ground and prevent it from fetching help?
