I've been playing Odyssey for a few weeks and I'm loving it. Elite needed something to make the galaxy feel more alive and it's a great start. However, I'm a little sick of every mission involving assassinating people, shutting down settlements, stealing samples, larceny, heists, many of which are illegal and give you bounties.
It's great that you can choose how you want to live your life in Elite, but there is no choice: you have to be a scumbag. If you want to upgrade your suit or weapons, you'll be stealing and killing nonstop.
There should be more missions that tap into the optimism and hope that space exploration conjures in our imaginations. Why can't we have fun gameplay that involves setting up settlements, or terraforming, or tasks that don't make us feel like shitty people? The restore power missions do this but they're relatively rare and you're isolated, you don't get the feeling that you're contributing to the galaxy. Maybe we need good guy NPCs that tag along on missions like these, but we definitely need MORE good guy missions.
