I've been a fan of Elite Dangerous for a long time, I even backed the Kickstarter. I backed knowing I didn't have a PC to play on because I really wanted to see the game get made.
When it came out for Xbox I became a suporter again with the Xbox Game Preview Program. I've played the game on and off since it's been on console. I'm not super far or rich but I have a LOT of fun playing and being the space man I always wanted to be.
Now I actually have a PC that's capable of playing the game at a decent quality. However, I'm not able to bring up the enthusiasm to play and the reason why is a bit silly.
See, over the years I've acquired a good deal of cosmetics for the game. Some through promotions or in game events and some bought with money. I've easily spent a few hundred pounds on the game for cosmetics and I'm OK with that. I enjoy everything I've bought. The issue is that everything I've acquired is for the Xbox version of the game and Frontier Developments have decided not to make these things usable on any other systems.
I find it disheartening and just can't bring myself to play knowing I can't use any of the cosmetics that I've earned or purchased. Everything is tied to my Frontier account so why can't it be used when I sign into that same account on a different system? I'm not asking for cross play or even cross save, though both should be available as well. I just want the cosmetics. I can earn credits and ships again.
I'd be all for buying more cosmetics in the future too, but I just can't bring myself to play. This issue just really bothers me and feels so icky that I lose interest almost immediately.
Am I alone here? Are these super selfish thoughts I'm having?
Edit just to say, I've asked Frontier about this. They told me they won't do it. The can delete my Xbox pilot and transfer all the assets in the form of credits to my PC profile but we all know that credits are easy enough to come by.
