Deathwish is a bad meme.

I know there's posts about this already but I don't think they do enough to outline the problems with the archetype. So I'm going to explain why the additions to Deathwish doesn't do enough for the problems of Deathwish.

1) Consume cards are way under-tuned. Open the deck builder and look at anything with Consume in the description. They are all 4 for 4. 5 for 5. 6 for 6. They do not give tempo by themselves. So you have to rely on the benefit Deathwish cards give. But…

2) Deathwish does not overcompensate for the lack of points Consume cards have. Deathwish on average gives 5 or so points of value when conditions are met. Varuna and Manticore sometimes jackpots and you get 8 or something. Seeing I commit negative value for Consume and get barely rewarded for Deathwish means the point curve does not line up. I could just play SK 4 for 8s point slams or NR 4 for 20 engines. the combo of Deathwish + consume even when working together, do not give enough points.

3) You build tall. Arguably the worst and most annoying part about consume is you build tall. Playing Tall is the easiest strategy to counter in Gwent. There are DOZENS of cards that insta kill Tall. So even when you're comboing and feel the slightest bit of value – everything is null when the enemy deck has Yenvo, Heatwave, Morels, Vanilla Geralt even. It's all pointless – literally.

4) Also what is with the counter synergy between Deathwish cards? It's like old pirates, you want to play in a certain order but sometimes it's awkward. When Giant Toad is in the deck especially. Weavess Incantation, into Brewess means Toad flies out and kills Brewess before Incantation procs on the Brewess. Same thing happens with Incantation, then Arachasqueen – the queen gets eaten by toad and Incantation won't proc on Queen. Toad also hurts Scenario – which you can work around but really since the archetype is so bad Giant Toad should give you the OPTION to summon so it fixes the other problems. The change to Hybrid also is hilarious because you can't even leader then play Hybrid because leader counts as "destroying" a unit and not consuming. Lol
