Eating food in Valheim, or “it’s fine, it’s fine, and dead”

New Valheim update

For context: I currently have full Iron Gear & am comfortable in the swamps, and am getting ready to face Bonemass.

However I'm finding a number of distracting chores, like making various foods which involves going hunting for blueberries. And that's fine. But every time I do this I think to myself "I'm going for a leisurely stroll in the black woods. I'll don my maxed out troll armor to be sneaky for easier hunting. I even bring my maxed out iron gear to throw on when fighting trolls (because, spoiler alert, you're done sneaking when a troll is smashing things) I've got like 500 deer meat in chests but obviously I need more– and probably nearly as many bird feathers. So I know I'm good, and of course the inevitable 'I don't need to waste food for this excursion'. But I'm not completely nuts so I'll eat some honey, and maybe some deer meat.

And you know what? It's great. I get some blueberries, I fight a troll, and maybe take a few damage but I'm doing good. And then I fall, and find another troll, and I mistime a parry or two. Now all the sudden I'm not sitting pretty at 50ish health, but I'm down to 15 >_< And of course that troll attracted a graydwarf shamin & brute, so I've got to dodge & avoid poison & stuns. Maybe I get away, but maybe the brute stuns me or the poison lasts longer than I do. Either way, no longer feeling good. 🙁

If I do this same thing in the swamp, I die. Every time.

One day I will learn. One day. But for now, I'm going out to get blueberries. This deer meat will be fine 😉
