Followup on the grenade discussion earlier – how is damage calculated – are there actually damaging shrapnel?

So earlier, in the F1 / impact "bug" post there was a discussion about grenades, how the damage works and if shrapnel is actually dealing damage outside the blast radius.

/u/thatcodingboi posted this video:

This sure seems like there is damage from shrapnel even far away from the actual explosion.

I am not sure if this is actually true since I tested a lot some wipes ago I figured I'd run another one on the current patch, the video is uncut so there are some slow parts, video is still processing so sorry for bad quality.

I can not get the nades to damage me at all as long as I am outside of the 7m blast radius.

Samplesize might be too small and I can retest with more but overall I'd say that incidents like in the first video happen due to server desync.
I had nades fly out a door but actually staying stuck in the door frame and blow me up before so that nade might never have made it over the wall on the server, bounced back and blasted the teammate.

A while ago I posted something about how I think grenades work:
https://www.reddit.com/r/EscapefromTarkov/comments/rox4yq/how_grenades_currently_work_i_think_and_possible/

and after the test I still think this is true.

If you got any clips where we can verify that actually some way off fragment hit you and damaged you, please post them here.

Also if you got some different insight on the topic, please enlighten us.

I would love to figure out how grenade damage is actually calculated and dealt.
