Nothing I am bringing up here is new or unheard of. And I really do not mean to echo the same complaints from the community, but with the most recent trailer of Streets dropping, some things really come to mind.
This game needs serious QoL improvements WAY before we need more maps, different bosses, or anything of the like. While the Streets trailer was really sweet and got me pretty excited, it almost does not even make sense to hype up a map that is so far ahead on the calendar. We already have info pointing to a sequence of Factory Expansion > Lighthouse Map > (MAYBE) Streets.
I love this game a lot. I love what BSG has in mind for us, and the passion project they are rolling out to complete. This game is unique in so many ways that allows for such a refreshing style of gameplay of recent years. But there are SO MANY small issues that add up that truly break immersion to a really high extent. NOT game breaking, but IMMERSION breaking to an extent that is damn close to a red line.
-In a game with the illusion of hardcore tactility, where HEARING is almost more important than visual cues, most staircases are a vacuum of sound, and upwards or downwards means NOTHING to audial cues. The sounds themselves are AMAZING, but directional and vertical audio is complete dogshit in a game where sound is so vital to the experience- a KNOWN issue that still runs rampant.
-In a game where positioning and movement is important, Scav Bosses and their guards literally heat seek you in an aggro sequence- locating you through walls, behind cover, or even through thick layers of fog that are virtually an abyss. Scav Boss guards automatically know exact position after engagement, entirely removing any thread of stealth immersion, while they and their raider counterparts can aimbot through tiny holes and lock on (and track) through hard and soft cover alike. Make them easier? No, not at all. But artificial difficulty lies on a spectrum.
-A game where everything from armor to bullets is vital and needs to be worked for, there are hackers running rampant ACROSS maps with little risk of being banned. You can find hackers on twitch flexing their hacks and "advertising" discord services. Cheaters can no clip, aimbot, magic bullet, wallhack, and see ALL loot in the map without a single red flag through the game algorithm itself. It isn't just labs- reserve, customs, and even fucking woods has been a victim of cheaters lately.
I get BSG is in a constant state of pumping out content, and improving the game tirelessly. But these issues are embedded in the experience of the game itself. Do i speak alone when I say i would rather have these issues addressed WAY before ANY new maps or content is released? I love the look and feel of Streets, but i cannot even imagine how bad the hacking will be on such a large map, and with 2 scav bosses I can only imagine how the aggro aimbot AI will be in a giant city scape full of windows and vertical angles.
TL;DR -Audio glitches, AI aggro, movement/ weight systems, and an abundance of cheaters need to be addressed BEFORE any new content is released.
And yes, I understand there are a variety of different teams at work within BSG, fulfilling filler content to keep us happy while the issues are worked out. But priorities are priorities, and they need to fall appropriately on the totem pole. The game has come a long way, but with so many different games on the horizon, BSG needs to hit the grindstone to stay in the lime light.
Rant over- this is how I see the landscape of EFT- how do yall see it? How do you feel after another Streets teaser?
There is said to be another reveal from EFT on June 13th, so we will have more news on things to come. Hopefully this will bring QoL improvements, because right now new content (ESPECIALLY new maps) mean almost nothing with the same bugs and issues persisting through gameplay experience.
