Hi, I am a new player and thinking of quitting after only a few days

gerald witcher3 gwent

Sorry if there is a questions thread, I would have preferred posting there, but I didn't see anything at the top of the sub and I'm not going to go digging for it.

I've had this game downloaded on my mobile device for a while now and finally started playing it. I enjoy strategy card games and am typically decent at them. I can consistently climb to the top 1200 ranks in MTGA, I dabbled in Shadowverse a long time ago, and have been getting into Hearthstone again recently – but I REALLY liked Gwent once I started playing.

It took me a while to understand the somewhat convoluted UI (there is so much for a 4-inch screen) but once I got it, I realize it's pretty great.

But here's the problem.

There have been multiple times now, I've experienced interactions which just don't make any sense to me. Specifically with the card Lacerate and now Geralt too. The card lacerate states (I'll be paraphrasing but it's pretty CLEAR) that it deals "2 damage to all enemies in a row". I use this card a lot of the time and it probably does what it says about 90% of the time but more than once now – probably at least three times, IT DOES NO DAMAGE TO ANYTHING. I can't chalk it up be anything buta glitch. There's no reason or explanation given, I've checked and re-checked the cards on the opponent's row. Should vitality cancel this out? Should a boost somehow act as a shield and cancel the damage? How does this make ANY FUCKING SENSE?!

Then in my last game I played geralt against a boosted unit that had exactly 9 power. NOTHING HAPPENED.

This is really getting on my nerves and I'd rather not play a game where the worst kind of RNG is inexplicable inactions of negating what my cards do.

So I'd love to hear if there's something I don't know about this, these specific cards, or what could've gone wrong that a noob like myself just doesn't know yet.
