Dear Engineers,
We, the CMDRs who are keeping our little Bubble of humanity from falling apart, have been dropping off countless pieces of manufactured scrap, raw elements that for whatever reason cannot be bought or sold on any market, and data that you honestly should be able to just download yourself. In return, you've made our ships fly faster, go further, shoot harder, and generally at least 20% more awesome. However, we, the CMDRs who are currently trying our level best to push the Thargoids back whence they came, feel like lately you've been—and we means this with all due respect—phoning it in.
Now, this doesn't apply to all of you. We, the CMDRs who are really tired of having to schlepp our asses halfway across the Bubble and back just to get slightly more juice out of our power plants, would like to take this moment to offer a shout-out to Liz Ryder and Zacariah Nemo. Well done, you two. These new AX Multi-Cannons are just… [chef's kiss] against Scouts. Really good seeing you two take the initiative.
The rest of you? Get off your asses and make yourselves useful. Clearly, you need inspiration, so please allow us, the CMDRs who are feverishly trying to reach our assigned docking bays before our god damn ships fall apart, to provide you with the following wishlist.
- BILL TURNER: You're a sensors guy. So please, have a look at this Xeno Scanner and make it work at more than hugging distance.
- BROO TARQUIN: Lasers are your thing. Curiously, we don't even have a single AX laser. No one's calling you lazy, but… seriously. What the heck. Get on it!
- CHLOE SEDESI: These thrusters are running really nicely. You know what'd help at this particular moment though? Evacuation ships need better boosting to outrun Interceptors. A continuous boost mod where we just hold down the boost button until our distributor runs dry would be great. I don't care if it melts the hull, better a slightly charred rescue ship than a dead rescue ship.
- COLONEL DEKKER: So you've figured out how to make FSD Interdictors better. Bounty hunters and pirates across the galaxy are forever in your debt. I don't know if you've heard, but the Thargoids are now also interdicting people in supercruise, and they're GOOD. Maybe figure out how to modify our own interdictors to make it harder to inderdict CMDRs? I'm sure traders would love such an upgrade, too.
- DIDI VATERMAN: I love my new shield boosters, they're terrific. Although, we could use shields that are better at resisting Thargoid weapons. That'd be grrreat!
- ELVIRA MARTUUK: A fully upgraded FSD makes exploration a joy. What sparks a bit less joy is the constant Thargoid hyperdictions. I'd gladly trade some jump range if you could modify our FSDs so Thargoids don't hyperdict us quite so much.
- FELICITY FARSEER: Felicity, Felicity, Felicity. You're among the first Engineers anyone meets, so there's a lot of history. You know what? You get a pass. HOWEVER, you don't get to just wash your hands of asking us to get Meta-Alloys, which has contributed to the mess we find ourselves in. Therefore, we're going to start dropping off evacuees at your doorstep so you can explain to them why your need for these materials was worth them losing their homes.
- HERA TANI: No one makes a power plant sing quite like you do. So, here's a challenge: Thargoids keep shutting down our ships. Can you PLEASE figure out a way to harden our power plants against that? Maybe shorten the time we're knocked out? We'll even drop off some more of those cigars you like.
- JURI ISHMAK: You appreciate things that go BOOM! How about an AX Mine Launcher? Don't you think that'd be just swell? Because we do.
- LEI CHEUNG: Like we said to Didi, we need better shields against Thargoid weapons. Hop to it, bruv!
- LORI JAMESON: Your great-grandpa helped get us into this mess, through no fault of his own. He got played, and no one's holding you responsible for what came next. However, we could use your help modifying our sensors to better navigate these new Maelstroms, because honestly, our current sensors are kind of terrible at getting us through the soup.
- MARCO QWENT: Nice hair. Can you get us a coffee or something? You know we just made nice with you so you'd get us the referral for your buddy Palin, right?
- PROFESSOR PALIN: Alright, so, about those Unclassified Relics we've been dropping off with you… anything happening there? Because it'd be super if you could hurry up whatever research you're doing with these things. Seriously. NOW WOULD BE A GOOD TIME!
- RAM TAH: Oh yeah, don't think we forgot about you, Guardian boy. Listen, you know your way around an ECM. No one uses them, because no one uses missiles. Know who does use missiles, though? Thargoids! Please put that big brain of yours to use and make us an anti-Thargon ECM module. It can't be THAT difficult. Also, anti-Thargon Point Defenses. Come on, man!
- SELENE JEAN: It's nice that our ship's hulls are a lot tougher now. Still, the Maelstrom's corrosive soup cloud keeps melting our ships, so having a Hull Reinforcement Package that can resist the Maelstrom's corrosive effects would be extremely useful.
- THE DWELLER: Oh, we have a special job for your furtive ass. You've rubbed shoulders with every stripe of smuggler, pirate, criminal, and trafficker in the galaxy. You know how to make the most out of a hull's nooks and crannies. So use that knowledge to build us bigger cabins to transport refugees. Class-7 and Class-8 cabins would be super.
- THE SARGE: You're a man of few words, so I'll keep this simple: Class-4 AX Cannons. KA-BOOOOM!
- TIANA FORTUNE: You get a limpet! And you get a limpet! And YOU get a limpet! How about engineering our Research Limpet Controllers so that it doesn't take forever to get those tissue samples? I have a feeling we'll need those before long.
- TOD "THE BLASTER" MCQUINN: Guardian Gauss Rifles are basically just fancy Rail Guns, and you've forgotten more about Rail Guns than most people will ever learn. So please, please with sugar on top, make human AX Rail Guns a thing.
- COLONIA ENGINEERS: You're off the hook for now, but look through the above list. Think about how you can contribute here.
Oh yeah, and one last thing for ALL OF YOU: put in a word with the Pilot's Federation to lift the limit of 4 experimental weapons. I think we've tested these things enough to go HAM now. We need Type-10s loaded up with turreted Enhanced AX Multi-Cannons, and we need them yesterday. Not to mention all the other builds this would enable.
