I was on reserve, doing my usual anemic slug routine (scav run, loot and be as unnoticed as possible, don't draw any attention), and I spawned just west of the multistory offices. Immediately got to work getting into one, which is where I saw what, to me, LOOKED like a slightly better off scav. Had a helmet, didn't shoot me, didn't even say a word to me. Just looked like a scav that got a lucky roll.
Got to looting, turn around and the scav is looking at me. Okay. Little weird but I'm not going to zone a random scav out for being your typical gopnik. 20 seconds later, as I'm in a room, this 'scav' mows me down and only then did I find out it's one of Glukhar's followers with the nickname Patron.
There was literally nothing about this guy that made me think, "That's not a scav. That's an Ex-PMC bitch." How was I supposed to know the difference when I've seen normal scavs with better gear than this raider at some times?
I think we need some better way that allows player scavs to identify or distinguish between a normal scav and Mr. 'I paid money to become a scav.' I know the overall theme is realism, which is why I'm not suggesting some RPG-style overlay when you aim at them, but besides the odd behavior nothing about this raider made me think he was anything more than a scav. Maybe add an 'identification' action, similar to examining a malfunction on your gun, that would display the faction of the current target you're aiming at. Something like, "This is a scav," and, "This is a raider." Bosses are easily identifiable, so I don't necessarily think they need anything beyond 'this is a scav', but a general identification message would be a bit better in determining if what I'm aiming at is a scav, raider, or PMC (because any cheeky bastard can put crap loot on and pretend he's Ivan McGopnik before shooting you in the back.) Part of this issue is that I feel inclined to not shoot anything or anyone as a scav in the happenstance that they're scavs as well, and I had that problem 5 raids prior where I saw what looked to be a low-level PMC with an AK he grabbed from a scav. I shot him, and it was a scav. I don't think this just comes down to me being retarded. I think we need something like what I mentioned above where you can, without worry, identify who you're looking at definitively.
