I've been playing EFT for 3+ years now, pretty hardcore. I'm not good at it (I'm 50 and was new to FPS) but I grind 1000+ hours a wipe. I enjoy the game despite its faults.
So after putting 10-12 hours into MW2 Beta I have to say it was pretty depressing. Not because I loved the game (it's not for me) but because I had no idea how good and smooth a game could look and feel. It was a real eye-opener. Desync was minimal, recoil feels reasonable, and player movements are unbelievably smooth and seamless. The exploits are pretty gross (corner jumping, bunny hopping, dolphin diving, etc…) but I have a feeling the COD crowd would lose their collective minds if they nerfed them too hard.
Now don't get me wrong, EFT is the only game for me, and playing MW2 only reaffirmed that. Nothing beats the design and gun-building aspects of Tarkov. But holy hell, it's a little depressing knowing how good it could be with the resources and bankroll of a major gaming company behind it. I don't hold it against BSG, I support them and will always love this game, but now that I've had a date with the hottest chick in school, I will never look at my old lady the same way again.
EDIT: I just wanted to share what I thought was a unique perspective, as I don't know how many die hard EFT players there are with ZERO fps experience in any other title. This post is in no way a complaint about EFT.
