Many of you aren’t aware but DotA 2 modding permanently died this week.

I don't know how to begin, this is just like our DotA's epic origin story, how pendragon betrayed everyone and buried many developer names.

But either way on to the topic.

I've been using DotA 2 mods since 2016, at my first time I was really scared of knowing what will happen, since I only play on one account and I never cheated in any game online. I read many comments saying you'll get permanent ban bla bla bla none of it was true, it was like virgins giving you advice about how to do many positions without having practical knowledge and I discovered this when I dove deep into the water solo without thinking of any consequences and I'm glad I did.

From 2016 to this date I was never banned for using mods, mods are basically made of voice packs, maps, weathers, voice line, hero items, couriers, cursor etc.,

Only you can see these mods and since the beginning I remember using DotA2Mods it only had users around 700 or 750 after that it only decreased but Valve is smart even then they shutdown every modders attempt.

At first during 2020 I think the latest patch from DotA 2 dropped and it disabled all the mods, from custom mods to software called DotA2Mods and even overwolf skin changer.

But a guy named wolf later on made a software named DotA2Patcher which bypassed the Valves system and gave you re access to modding, he even unlocked DotA 2 Plus but obviously nothing paid was unlocked only helpful features like stack timing and guides were there to help to bypass paywall. But this week even he got nuked so finally there is no hope left for DotA 2 modding and everyone just has to play plain and simple DotA 2.

Some people think modding is unfair because it unlocks your items skins for free but I mostly used custom sets made by the creators, such as Blizzard pandaren brewmaster as storm spirit.

Plus only you could see these sets so it didn't affect the steam economy.
