I recently came back to Valheim for the Mistlands update and made a new world. Because I had beaten Yag before, I made my way all the way to the Mistlands without much trouble and not a single death. Even throughout the Mistlands I managed to survive whatever the new biome had in store for me, but man was I in for a suprise for the Queen.
I hadn't spoiled myself at all, so everything I discovered was a first. I found the sealed vault and figured this was the Queen spawner, so not knowing what to expect I made every resistance potion, lingering stamina, major healing, the best upgraded gear and staff of embers etc you name it. I even set up ballistae aimed at the entrance with Seeker trophies attached. I also brought the kitchen sink.
I cannot fault the developers on a single thing; this entire experience was incredible.
The opening animation of the vault was thrilling and freaked me out. Then I realised it was AN INSTANCED FIGHT. I entered the Infested Citadel and instantly I felt a real sense of 'horror-game' level fear. The Queen's noises paired with the thick fog and darkness was terrifying.
The moment the health bar appeared and she emerged from the fog I shat a figurative brick through my desk chair.
The fight went well, but when she was at 10% HP she pulled a vomit-charge combo on me while I was cornered which dropped me for THE FIRST TIME throughout my entire playthrough.
I'm not even mad, this is one of the best, most thrilling boss fights I've ever played through in a game.
