After two weeks of enjoying Gwent, i’ve purchased over $70 of kegs, bundles, and even $10 of dust to build up a collection so I can deckbuild. When I enjoy a game, it is important to me to support the creators.
I used the dust I paid money for (what I thought of as a tip to the developers) to craft an animated Magic Lamp. Color me surprised when the digital cosmetic I paid $4 for transformed into a djinn that is decidedly NOT animated, not working like any other card creation premium in my collection.
I thought this was a simple bug, and contacted customer support for help. There response has completely turned me off of the game. “Not all cards have their premium versions. Please not that in case of Magic Lamp, the Magic Lamp card itself is animated.
I am afraid that we are not able to revert that action/grant you a refund in the situation described.”
Not all cards in the game have premium versions? Then don’t sell premium versions of them. I wanted to tip the developers, and instead of a smile this poor customer service has spat in my face. I was sold something under false pretenses, and customer service has refused to do the bare minimum to right their wrong. I will not be spending any more money in this game, and continue my search for a gital card game run by a company with sound morals. I’ve already left Hearthstone and Magic Arena after paying plenty to play for this same kind of mistreatment. All it would have taken was simply crediting my account imaginary dust that I feel was improperly taken from me, but the greed runs strong in CDPRs veins.
Is this just the sad reality of video games in 2021? Is this lack of any actual support typical of the Gwent team, or did I just run into bad RNG with Gouti who refused to do anything to help? Are you worried that customer service is pushing new paying players away from the game faster than they can aquire them?
TLDR “Not all cards have premium versions” and yet CDPR is happy to steal your money selling you things they are too lazy to develop.
