New player question – Odyssey vs Horizons?

Hello, I'm a new player that just got the game today after being unfulfilled by Starcitizen.

I watched some youtube videos on the game before buying. One controversial thing that stood out is the Odyssey DLC. Some people seem to like it, others seem to hate it. I haven't bought it yet, I only bought the base game. And I'd like to ask should I buy Odyssey?

From the videos I watched I couldn't understand how is the base game related to Odyssey content. Does the DLC enhance the base gameplay loop of ship flying, trading, delivery and star system exploration, by adding new guns and ships? Or does it only add additional FPS missions on top?

I've watched that the DLC allows you to walk around on space stations. Is this available on all landable stations, or only select new ones from the DLC? I also watched that the DLC simplifies planet generation, but adds better textures. How significant/noticeable is this? I'd like better textures, if it doesn't make all the planets identical to each other. I also read that the DLC makes 5% of the planets landable. Are these new planets added, or are these some of the current planets converted? And does this mean that the base game and Odyssey run on separate servers? Could a player with the base game interact directly with someone owning the DLC? And does the progress on the base game carry over to the DLC?

I'm more interested in ship gameplay, like combat and delivery. The moon buggy seems sufficient for surface exploration too. So space legs are not necessary for me. However, I like hording loot on foot, which I saw was possible. And also if all the landable stations are explorable on foot, instead of the hangar screen, and the graphical planet upgrade is noticeable, I would buy the DLC too.

One last question – is the tritium craze currently available on the base game too?
