I was watching Jubei's stream the other day, and he lost a game even though he dominated the game. So Rodeo comes in the chat to flaunt his victory against him. I was like, who is Rodeo? I looked him up and then it got me thinking, this guy has been in the NA high mmr scene for so long, playing with the likes of Arteezy, Cr1t, EternalEnvy, Chi Long Qua, etc, yet has accomplished nothing. Jubei at least has a liquidpedia page and won games, whereas Rodeo seems to be hanging around grinding ranked but not getting anywhere.
There are motivated and confident players like Sheepsticked who vowed to go pro and win TI even when they are Divine, she got to rank 600 at least and is now a streamer for Beastcoast and an analyst on a lot of TI / DPC games.
Then of course there's EE who dropped out of University to pursue pro dota, going on to win $1 million in earnings.
It's the guys that can't or haven't 'made it' that I'm curious about, players with just tons of games going up and down several medals. Then others I saw in my divine bracket skyrocket to top 500 then falling.
There was a guy on here posting guides and streaming, I started to follow him and saw him in my own games when I was in divine. He climbed to top 500 then started competing in open qualifiers. His last game was against a stack that had Shaggy and jubei, and was very close to winning until the game swung in the other direction. Shaggy's stack went on to win the open qualifier, and the streamer told me he lost all motivation after that. He had taken a year off and quit his job and started dedicating his time to ranked, making guides, videos, etc.
So out of curiousity, I ask you fellow ranked players, what are your personal hopes and dreams for dota? Is it to just see how well you can play and how far you can get? Is it to maybe be a streamer or analyst one day? Or do you hope to compete and form a stack for open qualifiers at DPC? What drives you to keep going?
I see a lot of posts from new people asking for advice of how to get started with EFT. To begin with, I am a noob who bought the game roughly a month ...
