semi new, any tips or advice?

I started playing back in like 2018 or so. I enjoyed it. Though I honestly have zero idea what I'm doing. Don't think I'll ever fight, not even npc because I don't think I fully understand how to fly these ships. Like the heck is a yaw and pitch? Roll? Like a barrel roll(starfox)? Will that protect.me from shit like SF LOL. When I thrust, it's like I'm barely going anywhere. I only actually move when I super cruise it seems like. Is that normal? I've done a few trades back than. But since, due to not knowing wtf I'm doing and daily life I put the game down. I just came back and I'm in the same predicament.. I'm on my old save and idek where I am(carslon ring I think the station is called) and idr how I got here. I did just upgrade my ship with new fsd and stuff from this station though ☺️ not sure if I should've did that? I just REALLY enjoy the scenery and sounds from this game so being a trader or some sounds good. What would I need to get to start going bout that? Or just tips/advice in general? Thanks Cmdrs
