I got me another copy of Odyssey cheap on Humble Bundle and started my new commanders career as a Sidewinder pilot. Got it A rated and flew off to pick up 3 Soontil relics for Elvira honking and scanning interesting systems along the way. Passed the 300ly from start and got the invite from Elvira, then from Tod and then from The Dweller!!! Got to Long Sight Base, cashed in my expo data, got promoted to surveyor and got the invite from Felicity and then Nemo, Quent and Brandon!!! Popped in to see Elvira, she didn't ask for the Soontil relics !!! Checking my standing with the engineers today on Inara I have G3 access to Elvira and G1 access to Tod and the Dweller. Is this a bug or have FDev caved into the "it's too much grind" complainers? I hope not, I liked the way unlocking the engineers forced you to engage with aspects of the game you might not otherwise have tried. I think I'll go visit Felicity next to see if she still wants her meta alloy.
Edit: 18 jumps later I'm with Felicity and yes, she does want her Meta Alloy.
