Some suggestions for improvements

First things first:
I love this game. I’ve been hooked since I discovered it half a year ago. I know the game only has got 5 developers working on it so development goes rather slowish.
Being in large scale software development myself I know how it is.

Also, I had to choose the title carefully, because opinions differ and everyone likes a different experience, so the following list is simply my point of view to enhance gameplay experience by avoiding small things that disrupt the immersion.

General gameplay:

• Waves / Tides should be blocked by high ground

  • deepest level of digging should show up as a different type of texture for players to recognise that they’ve hit bedrock (any reason why this threshold was introduced and not have a common sea level?)
  • slightly larger inventory would be nice, Or:
  • a more context sensitive inventory, to not have necessarily all your tools / clothes / weapons take up half of your inventory
  • add a way to quickly change between the hotkey (numbered) inventory. Especially when terraforming / mining there’s a constant switch between pickaxe and hoe
  • hitting „use“ key to instantly unhook yourself from the cart
  • Game time clock as it’s sometimes difficult to tell how long you’ve got left till evening
  • a way to add permanent, longer lasting or self refilling lights. Or: add a spirit to a house which helps out. Who’s got the time and will to constantly check and refill them?

AI and mobs:
– friendly fire between mobs, especially trolls and rest

• restrict AI of wildlife to go for a swim, or make them get eaten/ die when reaching the ocean. It’s weird seeing deers swim through the ocean cause they got scared

• more realistic AI to be hostile to each other (like skeletons and deer are, atm)

Building:

• add a way to template your at least simple buildings so you don’t need to memorise how you build your last outpost
  Showing the template as a blue ghost in game might be helpful, too
