Teleporting Metals w/out a Portal

I'll start out with saying I play on console and I'm not sure if this will work on PC. But it might!

I stumbled upon this while farming for Iron in the swamps.

While farming in the crypts, I find a chest to store all of my iron that I find in said crypt. I clear the entire dungeon which usually equates to ~80-100 raw iron. I then pull all of the iron into my inventory, then save the game. I then dashboard out (I'm guessing alt+F4 on the computer) and when I relog, it logs me right back at my bed at my main base and put all of the iron in a chest next to my bed. Then bring the iron to my forge house stack by stack.

I'm not sure why the game brings you right back to your bed when you dashboard vs if you logout, it will bring you right back to the same place where you logged out.

Yeah.. I know this is cheating by taking advantage of this mechanic. But use it as you please! Can someone confirm if this works on PC?
