I’ve been lurking here for a while, gathering tips and stealing useful base designs and figured I’d share my recent experience.
I’m around 180 in game days in, I’ve defeated The Elder, ventured into the swamp and acclimatised to this hostile environment. I’m now rocking maxed out root armour and an iron mace and buckler, feeling pretty badass as things go. So much so that I was starting to get a little bored, not really knowing where to take my adventure to next.
I saw a previous post where a fellow Viking had managed to get themselves some silver before toppling Bonemass so I figured I’d take a trip to the nearest mountain, how hard could it be? I’d soon be swimming in silver, laughing all the way back to the smelter!
I brew me up some frost resist and set off on my merry way, enjoying the snowy scenery whilst staying wary of any canine capers. I come across a strange circular hole in the ground with a spiral staircase descending into the depths. I take a trip down and lo and behold, there’s part of a silver vein protruding, Odin truly favours me this day! I crack out the trusty iron pickaxe and get to work, lapping up the early spoils of my expedition. However it was short lived as I somehow manage to put a hole in the stone floor, plummet through to the bottom and am promptly trapped. No wood to build a way out, a pickaxe with significant damage and just to top it off, 3 hungry wolves appear, circling the hole above.
I let loose a couple of arrows at my new tormentors but they lodge themselves into the stone ceiling. I start to chip away at my stone walled cell but my pickaxe is declining at an alarming rate. Thank Thor for Stagbreaker. The stone walls crumble like the Jericho of old and I am able to dig my way to freedom, throwing everything last scrap of energy into my mad scramble down the mountain.
In short, a humbling experience…
I’ll be back there tonight to gather the rest of that silver though…
