The boss fights in this game are great

Valheim – Quick Tips to Start

My friends and me just beat Yagluth for the first time. We waited with this for a long time (wanted to wait until Mistlands was released and then still had to find his spot). I would say we were well prepared.

We were all wearing fully upgraded padded armor, except for my helmet because the drake helmet looks awesome. We fought with black metal and silver weapons, combined with needle and frost arrows. Drank fire resistance mead (it was a wild guess that he would attack with fire) and ate the best food we had – I had serpent stew, blood pudding and bread. The battle started in the morning, everyone was rested.

So I think, we could not have prepared better. Yet, it was a long and challenging fight. It took us the whole day and night, I think a bit of the next day too. Three out of four people died, I even died twice. And that was great – well, dying wasn't but it was great that the battle was a challenge despite having the best gear and food.

I remember that the other boss fights were also like this when we first started them. The Elder fight took forever back then, we had to attempt Bonemass twice because of being underprepared the first time.

I just really appreciate how well they are adjusted to each stage of the game. They aren't easy but they aren't so hard that it just ends up being frustrating either. They do get easier the second time because then you know the enemy's behaviour, but the first time it's a guessing game which tactics might work.

One thing a friend pointed out as a possible improvement was that the boss could start using different attacks once his health is halfway down or something like that. This would add an extra challenge.

I just think it's great, including the music and lighting. Very curious how the next boss will be like. So far, we've only been to the Mistlands once, so it will be long until we enter this battle.
