It seems like everyone has a funny story of adventure gone wrong and I think that is what makes this game so great. Reading a few recent posts inspired me to place my own here.
My two pals and I had finally gotten a full set of iron armor with a iron weapon each and were feeling particularly badass. We had spent a little time in the mountains but we had only discovered a small biome, so we figured we would venture out a bit.
There we found it. A beautiful shore with dark forest, swamps, and a massive looking mountain. There was also a sandy looking area off to the right. “Huh, never seen that before” I thought. We landed in the forest and set up a small hut. Only problem was we all thought the other person brought portal materials.
At this point I hop off to wind down for the night, figuring we can continue the adventure next time. I get a phone call TWO HOURS LATER, just as I am getting ready to fall asleep. My friends are begging me for help. They had managed to cross the plains unnoticed and died in the swamps on the other side. They then struggled the whole time trying to recover their iron armor and weapons.
I get my ass out of bed, log in, build a new ship (they had gotten the original stuck by their gravestones), and try to save them. I pile them in and take them to their gravestones only to have a serpent attack the ship while a blob hops on the deck and poisons everybody. We all die, needless to say.
Hours later we manage to save everything. You can still sail past that shore and see it littered with tombstones. At least 60. Still one of the most hilarious, frustrating, wild, crazy, and fun gaming experiences I’ve ever had.
I hope everyone gets a chance to experience an adventure just as crazy. Write a story if you want to share, I’d love to read other ones.
