Thoughts on Spec Arcana being locked in the Battle Pass

Hey Valve, at this point you folks should know that it was a dick move to lock arcana winners into the bp. The outrage for the past week plus the poor reception of the Nemestice BP shows this (only 800k bought the bp for this event).

But hey, who are we kidding? What’s the chances of you changing your mind because the tiny bit of the playerbase makes some outrage in this corner of the internet, right? Anyway, I’ll still put this here in r/dota2 because it’s probably the only relevant place to voice out opinions anyway.

And if you really want to go down this path, I can only see the whales being happy with this. So here’s a few suggestions to probably change things a bit:

1. Put the arcana both in the regular Dota store and the battle pass.
2. But release the arcana on a later date (how about 2 months after bp season?)
3. Give “level 3 Exalted style” unlock for players who will get their arcana in the battle pass
4. Or make the bp-arcana be customizable with prismatic gems just like TB and Techies Arcana while the store arcana isn’t

This way, it’s a tiny win-win situation for Valve and the playerbase. Valve gets to promote some incentive in selling the arcana with the bp because it has some noticeable uniqueness in it (not just the useless “Exalted” quality that you previously promoted). Which may or may not lure people to buy the bp. While the playerbase still gets to enjoy their favorite hero with the arcana that they can actually buy at a fraction of the bp’s cost at a later date.

PS: can we get style unlock quests that are “casual friendly” too?
