I've had VR since the HTC Vive released, what 5 or so years now? I've played most major and small VR titles. I have to admit this game in VR by far is the best. I know it's only a mod and not native, props by far to the creator.
I purchased this game on release played on flat screen, aka pancake nonvr, didnt enjoy it and refunded. Nothing new here I said. After the 6dof full hand tracking mod was released I repurchased and bought again. Wow. The VR mod made them another sell, and then I bought two more copies to play with my friends in VR.
The game is not the same once you play in VR first person. It's much slower paced. Combat is slower and more planned. You are there.
I'm using cocoa HD mod and you'll find yourself walking a few hundred yards and stopping to take in this view, then again and again. The storm when it happens if near the water, you'll walk out of your base and just watch it all night in awe. The waves are so huge in vr, lighting and effects are like no other during the storm. The experience cant be understood outside VR.
The dungeons are creepy and personal. Trolls large and intimidating in first person. The fire effects from your fire arrows are the bees knees. I waste so many fire arrows just shooting mindlessly into the forest to watch the fire trail travel hundred of yards away from the arrow and then to see it land and spark up a cloud of sparks. Watch it illuminate the ground like a torch was planted there the whole time.
Combat as said is slower, you use a shield as in real life to block attacks in one hand and then to swing your weapon in the other.
Arrows are pulled from behind you as if it was in a quiver, notched and pulled back from your bow. More you pull back further the arrow flies. As in real life I'd imagine, fire arrows get in way of aiming due to the bright light, sparks, flickering in front of your vision, frustrating and awesome same time.
I've not played but for about 15 hours now in VR and this is my take. I hope you enjoy the read, I have much more to experience, and cant wait!
