When you enter a system at war… nothing happens. Nobody stops you, nobody tries to interdict you (as far as I know) there is no danger. That on its own would not be a problem. Star systems are huge places and its totally beleiveable that you simply didn't run into any combat.
The problem for me is this, you can fly to any station and land there, and there is zero meaningful difference. You are in a "war torn" system with one space station, and you're telling me the fighting is only in obscure areas around planets? Am I wrong for thinking the station. Is a much more important military target than a few outposts on a random moon?
It makes sense that their could be fights over moons and planetary outposts and all that. But I can't believe the space stations are never under threat.
Also odyssey should have on foot combat in stations that are at war, possibly even at the cost of that station being out of commission for a while. Yeah that's inconvenient, but so is war.
TLDR this game has a rich environment for organic simulation like war scenarios in space. And totally ruined it.
Still like the game though.
