With talk about meta being stale and patches feeling as if Icefrog is no longer at the helm, how can this game be made more interesting, strategically and mechanically? I actually found it really hard to come up with ideas

Windranger DOTA 2 Hero Guides

Dwelling on this opened my eyes to how deep and fleshed-out this game already is, that I really struggle to think of what could be added.

These are some possibly stupid ideas I think would be cool:

  • The map now has various new interactions that alter vision/movement (static binoculars, portals, trampolines, erectable walls)
  • Terrain changed so that it is much safer to cross the river from jungle to triangle (so neutrals are more "neutral" territory)
  • Neutrals scaling in difficulty much more rapidly (while being more bountiful), and giving temporary/permanent attribute buffs to their killers, non-random (league concept)
  • Every hero gets one new ability
  • Additional tower in every lane and map size upscaled accordingly(…!?)
  • Turn it into a third person shooter and rebrand 😀 (to achieve the spatial complexity those games have! I recently found out about a shutdown game called Gigantic that was close to this vision that I wish I could've played)

And of course new heroes/items, but I really struggled with that too – feels like every innovation for new abilities has already been discovered. Not to sound like a shill but this game is very close to perfect lol, I think a lot of us are just jaded having played 10+ years.

Of course, I am in no way commenting on promo for the game – we are in dire need of more lore-building media, career-sustaining methods, and interesting and exciting ways for us to spend our $$$!!

Keen to hear some of your ideas for spicing up this game! Or just general thoughts and feelings about Dota at the moment.
