DOTA 2 Guides

I'm just getting back into dota after about 5 years of not playing. I have about 1600 games. So I know to play, but I don't really know the meta, what items I should buy (especially the new ones), don't know all the mechanics of newer heroes, etc. I'm still getting refamiliarized with the game, I don't know all of the finer details. Like anyone else, I have good games, and bad games.

And considering all of this, I welcome constructive criticism, advice on what to do/buy, anything. But I don't tolerate toxic behavior. No one should have to. And if I, or someone else on the team, is having a bad game, most of the time someone is not giving advice, just shit-talking. If you have something to say that you think will help improve a player's game and help your team win, SAY IT. Telling someone they are bad at game, to uninstall, etc. accomplishes nothing besides making the game worse for your whole team.

When someone starts badmouthing, I will usually reiterate this sentiment. Saying if they have some geniuine advice, say it, if you don't stfu. 90% of time they don't give any kind of advice and just continue being toxic. This leads me to believe they don't actually know what you're doing wrong or can't articulate what you should be doing. So they're insults are completely useless.

I've also run into a lot of people that won't say anything during the game, and when the game is over or just about over they will you should have done xyz, why didn't you gank X hero, why did you not get this item? etc. These people are almost just as bad because obviously that information may have been helpful earlier in the game, but it's useless for the time being when the game is over. It's almost like they want to see you fail so they can "I told you so." Except they didn't tell you so…

So please, on behalf of myself and all the other returning or new players, if you have something that is not toxic to say that you think will help your team win the game, SAY IT.
