So I am SUPER excited about VOIP coming and I think it's going to be great.
I think it'll be great majority of time. But 2 things concern me since sound is so important.
Is the new meta going to be everyone having 'soundboards' setup to emit various sound effects in-game?
e.g. grenade bounces, fake heals, or multiple PMCs, or whatever
Have recorded footstep sounds that sound like they are behind you, even if you are playing the audio when it's in-front of them? I feel like 'throwing sound' via soundboard is gonna be pretty easy to do.
loud white noise static spammers, depending on volume control and other things. There will be people who RIGHT before they engage you, will start blaring incredibly loud ear screeching static noise non stop thru their headset. Sure youll be able to hear them, but if its loud enough and the right kind of audio, you might not be able to tell direction quickly and it might obstruct other sounds. So I REALLY hope there is an in-game way of quickly muting all other VOIP sounds or something.
I know until it lands, some of these things are unknowable but unless am I missing something, I sure hope majority of people don't do that. But I suspect itll be a higher number than I'd like to see/hear.
