I'm super interestd to see what people think about this.
Hypothetically speaking, if a game AAA came out with the same level of movement and gunplay/gun customisation (weird tarkov recoil not included), using similar raid-based and quest based systems, working audio, still using AI for their own raiders or scavs but the game performance was actually good (i.e 140+ FPS on good rigs), would you continue to play Tarkov or switch?
I personally would not continue to play this game. It is of course wishful thinking that a AAA company would not utterly destroy the game with skins and other store elements, but man, the moment a well polished Tarkov-esque experience is on the market I will be out. Reading recent posts on here I feel like I'm not alone in this, but I'm curious to what others think on the subject.
Also, no I'm not delusional and I don't think MW2 will have a mode similar to Tarkov (at least not in the initial iternation, perhaps in the next game).
EDIT: I phrased myself badly – by AAA I did not mean Acti/EA/Ubi. I should have said a more polished experience. I would not trust these companies to make a game NOT INFESTED WITH STORE-BOUGHT ITEMS.
However, I think that there is a huge market for a game like Tarkov, and it would make sense for one of the big 3 to take on such a project. BSG already took the risk with a new game idea – and it worked. So knowing there is a large audience that would pay for this game should be a good incentive. It would of course not be the highest selling game of all time, or the most profitable, but if it was to be nailed right it would be damn successful unlike recent distasters (Vanguard, BF2042 etc).
