While the tank definitely has some appeal for US citizens mainly, or people looking to meme, there is potential to make this tank have a worldwide appeal. The tank itself is actually rather decent packing some nice DPM, standard pen, and workable armour.
Currently, the Bond Shop only offers the T26E5 Patriot with the permanent nonhistorical skin. While this can definitely spur some Americans to save up and buy it for the sake of the skin, it could turn away potential customers that enjoy making a tank their own. The skin is neat but like most other tanks with permanent 2D skins it loses the appeal after you've seen it for 50+ games and doesn't offer anything else to look at, and you have nothing to spice it up.
I propose that WG releases a series of skins that are freely interchangeable (or a reasonable credit price, let's say 100K per new country style) on the T26E5 Patriot for different nations. While this is simply a cosmetic preference, it would allow for the Patriot to gain new life (especially in the EU) for having the ability to switch between different patterns for different nations. WG could have the community vote on which country gets a new skin and generally start with countries that have a larger base.
While this would definitely take time to implement as artwork for skins would be necessary, it would not be as labor intensive as a 3D skin or new tank. There's not really much need for extensive testing since it shouldn't impact gameplay
It doesn't seem like it'd be that hard to have the stars on the turret sides replaced with balkenkreuz and the eagles replaced with bears for a German T26E5 Patriot, along with the flag being painted on the hull/turret and the gun inscription being "Einigkeit und Recht und Freiheit".
This would allow more players to purchase the T26E5 P and still feel like they can show some pride for their country or just change how it looks to keep it from going stale.
