Luger is heralded as being bad compared to R.I.P. or Quakemaker but I'd like to point out it's very weird specific niche qualities that make it worthy of actually loading into a gun if you so happen upon it or are running budget.
- 10 pen means that if you absolutely dump it. It will break through scav armor /most/ the time.
- It has a higher bullet velocity than R.I.P. and Quake. This allows you to load it into something like an STM with a zoom optic and not worry too too much about it dropping more than PST's.
- It has a higher heavy bleed chance than R.I.P. but much better velocity than Quakemaker
- It deals 70 damage and for all intents and purposes, your first shot should be for legs to cripple. This still blacks a leg in one hit despite it doing less than quake or rip for raw damage.
- This is true for R.I.P. Quake and Luger, but flesh rounds /leave armor intact and are cost effective/ Meaning if you do run flesh rounds, the idea is that you are leaving armor intact to loot and scoot with. Pretty important right now for early wipe.
Is Luger Meta at all? No. Raiders and killa sometimes have it though and it's worth scooping up at this stage in the wipe. Slap some in an MP5/pp-19 and aim for the legs when you're broke however. Quakemaker is available at peacekeeper level 2 and does 85 damage. One tap to unarmored thorax. Lugers are definitely made to be used at greater range, (Safer kill) than Quake and RIP with it's super high 102 damage does better at close range and is best used for Killa. I'm hoping Luger is available earlier than Skier level 4 (Obvious oversight for it's stats) this wipe and that's been adjusted but it's the only 9mm flesh round that has decent ballistics.
My current "For fun" kit is running an STM with a valday (2 vodka one MRE from prapor level 2!) and lugers. Psts if I don't have them. Working out well so far. Happy raiding friends.
