I was playing some modded Valheim w the boys last night and came up with an idea for one of the more annoying parts of the game: having to resail back to a previous biome to get more of its associated metals (ex: back to B. Forrest for Copper/Tin, or Swamp for Iron) when at a later part of the game.
We came up with the concept of a Boss Portal. A portal that required at least: normal portal materials, the trophy of the boss of X biome, and the a number of the associated metal of X biome. The benefits of the boss portal would be that you could transport the metal of that biome through that portal.
I think this would be relatively balanced because it still encourages the exploration and sailing loop of vanilla Valheim, while also rewarding those who beat bosses with a more simplified way to manufacture its metals. You could also restrict the boss portal to only the metal of that biome (ex: so you couldn’t take iron through an Elder portal but could through a Bonemass Portal). Or open it up to Boss Portal tiers (ex: allowing a higher leveled boss to transport any metal below its difficulty). Plus I really like the idea of having portals look or shaped like the bosses or colored based on its biome type!
Thoughts?
