Having spent about the last week trying to successfully get a breeding population of chickens going, can I suggest that the next patch include like a hatchery or something that processes eggs?
It took me way longer to realise that the eggs weren't just disappearing into the shadow realm than I care to admit. Even once I realised that my chickens were self-immolating it took me a few attempts to set up a fire that would warm the eggs without allowing them to go all Tibetan monk on it. It took me an ungodly amount of gold (the local fuling population will never forgive me for my crimes) to keep on having to buy new eggs.
A simple hatchery that processes the eggs would feel way less janky. I mean I'm pretty sure sitting eggs directly on or even next to a fire is a fairly terrible way to incubate them unless you're making a scotch egg.
