Keep an eye with your vram usage on Lighthouse

I´ve been several days troubleshooting Tarkov trying to squeeze every bit of performance I can get so I can make my game playable with my ancient 4790k and noticed that the vram usage in Lighthouse is way higher than in other maps.

I play at 2k, TAA (normal, not high), textures medium, all the rest disabled/low execpt for overal visibility at 1500.

My gpu has 8 gb of vram, which is the most common amount of vram these days for most mid tier graphics cards. In most maps the vram usage sits at about 6.7 gb, but on Lighthouse it goes up to 7.7 gb, almost exhausting it.

Considering how spread the advice of using high textures is and the amount of people that have freezes and stutters on Lighthouse I would highly recommend trying textures on medium, as many may have a gpu with 8 gb of ram or less and its usage may be maxed out and causing the stutters.

As a sidenote, the variables that most cause the vram usage to increase are resolution, texture quality and antialiasng quality.

If you want to monitor your vram usage and many more variables I do it with gpu-z. Just open the program and play a raid with the program open. After you extract you can check the "Memory Used" section for the last minutes. You don´t want your vram to be maxed out completely, give your gpu a little headroom. The "System Memory Used" section stands for the regular Ram in your system, which may be interesting for you to monitor aswell if you are experiencing stutters, but don´t confuse each other.

Ideally you want your system to have some ram and vram available so it can always have some headroom to work properly. If your system is using up all its regular ram maybe you want to experiment with enabling the "Automatic Ram Cleaner" in the first settings tab in the game.
