That said, alongside the post I made a couple months ago about Improvements to Ships, Seafaring skill, and Ocean Biome… (*in that mega thread) – I have been percolating on some similar basic improvements to our Map system. I hope some of these are in the game before 1.0 <3
Just wanted to share so It's out there for the community and devs to consider!
1) More Iconography for our maps. The base 5 are a decent starting point but there's some clear ones missing for an adventure sandbox game. Here's some others to consider:
- Bridge/Crossing – We all build them. Some are naturally there. Sometimes its not a bridge, just the best place to cross a river or a lowtide area to another island/landmass
- Mine/Quarry – Marking a larger region where you've actually built a path/road to for your carts.
- Ingot – For marking any Copper, Tin, Silver, Marble or other "Pickaxe-related" sources.
- Tree – Typically I believe most players specifically designate deforestation areas or tree farms.
- Village – I often mark where major pre-builts are. This is useful for Drauger villages. But I also would use this for the various Fulling camps. It can also be used in Tandem with the House icon when a group of players has a larger settlement
- BONUS: Golden Village! – Basically the same icon as above but Gold so it "POPS" more. The main or Player village.
- BONUS: Golden House! – Same as above. A way to signify your MAIN home. Letting you use/declutter if you have multiple "homes" for different biomes etc.
