There's lots of posts about scavs going ham on people, i thought i would share some tips i've learned while playing this game.
I'm not a good writer and on accident i often project a negative tone in my writing. Fair warning.
When coming across a scav i make sure i have cover, concealment and distance. As i move in to kill i make my decisions to move from place to place by how much cover and concealment there is.
Cover hides you and stops bullets. Concealment only hides you.
Depending on how many bots, i calculate if the juice is worth the squeeze. If not, i'll back out and move on, going for as much cover and concealment possible while in transit. If there isn't any then it's time to sprint away from danger.
Having distance on a scav can save you but you need to be consistently hitting them center mass if you can't get a headshot for whatever reason.
One way to have a consistent stream of bullets hitting the scav (which keeps them from hitting you. A scav will miss a shot if you can keep pounding them) is by doing a semi-auto 5 tap.
Practice a 5 tap by counting out loud as you fire and saying "one Mississippi. Two Mississippi. 3 Mississippi etc etc".
As you do that, work on recoil control. When you feel good then make the count faster "one and a two and a 3 and a 4 and a 5" until you can shoot quickly and do "1 2 3 4 5"
5 rounds in a beam center mass behind cover at a distance will fuck a scav up.
Having a low dpi on your mouse helps. Being able to use free look and move around with 700dpi will save your life if you can wield it.
If you play goldeneye on n64, and know about side stepping then apply that movement skill with low dpi. Start at 700 and go up to 800 and 900 to help you warm up.
While you move you always use free look and look around. If you want to peek a corner and not have your gun poke out, you aim down and use free look. Scanning with free look while running. Using free look to lower your profile in a way as to catch bullets on your helmet, not your face. Free look is life and it's one of the most important skills to master in eft.
Semi auto vs full auto.
Semi auto for medium to long range. Full auto in close range.
Start with that and from there its possible to be full auto all the time. Takes skill tho and usually a nice burst at a distance is what stops your target.
Take your time. Be patient while moving. Never sprint without reason.
The economy of motion.
Another very important skill to master is the ability to smoothly lower and raise your stance while moving using free look and adjusting speed.
If it feels too difficult then re-bind some keys to make it all work for you.
I keep my fov on default any fps i play. I use to try and go as wide as possible but all that does is stress my video card out and disconnects me from accurate, smooth and thoughtful movement.
The economy of motion is a skill developed with patience. If you feel frustrated, like you're running out of time and you even feel angry, then you need to work on being patient.
Taking breaks.
It's good to stop once and awhile and look around and listen. Sitting still and listening in concealment could save you from walking into a fuck nest of beef stew swallowing scavs.
Don't wear blue, red, white or in general any color that isn't in your surroundings.
Arm bands are for the birds. If you need to write down real quick what your friends are wearing then do it. Smoking weed and playing eft is awesome but if you cant remember what your homie is wearing its your fault if you tag em'.
Keep an eye out for homies on yer team. Its everyones responsibility to keep tabs on team members. If people keep wondering off and getting lost then be vocal about your movements, coordinate and say something if your buddy strays off.
Don't get scared if your buddy is advanced and wants to move out of sight and flank or be parallel with the group at a distance. Just communicate ! Use a compass and land marks and your team will do good.
Bots are easy just have a plan and Never underestimate them.
