Alliance Sends Warning to Kumo Crew , and thanks Independent Squadrons for Help! (Galnet)

Recent activities by the Kumo Crew syndicate in the California Nebula have been formally condemned by the Alliance.

Councillor Jed Trager supervised an investigation into the Kumo Council’s attempt to take control of several systems, ostensibly to defend them against a wave of Thargoid attacks. He summarised its findings during a session of the Assembly:

Intelligence provided by Alliance Interpol agents proves that the underlying objective of the Kumo Crew’s anti-xeno militia was to dominate the California Nebula. The syndicate had gathered ships and infiltrated civil institutions weeks earlier, using bribery and coercion to pave the way for their takeover.”

This coincides with our own findings, as we discovered well-documented evidence to suggest that Archon Delaine wishes to expand his control into what can be described as an 'empire' or 'kingdom'

“Further Thargoid attacks in the region were seen as inevitable, based on past behaviour and the prevalence of barnacle sites. When they occurred the Kumo Crew mobilised their pre-prepared forces, overthrowing local authorities under the pretence of ‘emergency security measures’.”

This is where our findings contradict one another. Upon arrival into the area on January 25th, 3309, we noted a predominately Non-Hostile present which could be compared to that of the Coalsack Nebula. Thargoid Scouts remained present in Non-Human Signal Sources, particularly Threat Lvl 4, but there were no Anti-xeno Conflict Zones present for CMDRs to participate in.

As soon as Kumo Council gained control, we noticed several AXCZs pop up around the planets that contain Barnacle Sites. When you targeted the Conflict zone in Supercruise it would show the Kumo Council's signature underneath.

Turner Research Group was passively allowed to harvest and study Barnacle Sites in the area for years, with the Alliance even controlling a Thargoid Barnacle in a WAREHOUSE… located at Mic Turner Base. Landing Pad 12 gets you closest, and the mission board UI will list the settlement name as "Thargoid Barnacle" for confirmation. Once Kumo took over the Thargoids became increasingly defensive.

Furthermore, we discovered ample evidence to suggest that Kumo Council was hauling A.I Relics & Prototype Tech through the shipping lanes, specifically to the Mictlan Megaship prior to the AX Community Goal. Galnet News Digest fortunately made note of this discovery as it occurred.

In conclusion, YKE Technologies believes that Archon Delaine's choice to assume control of Alliance assets in the California Nebula led to Inter-species Escalation. Thargoids are provoked by Human action from every major instance of conflict we've analyzed. From small scale accidents to wide-scale disasters, like the Proteus Wave.

“Our investigation has concluded that this was a brazen act of aggression against Allied factions. The Kumo Crew illegally attempted to hijack the Alliance’s assets and impose direct rule over our colonies.”

This coincides with our conclusion from last month as well, stated above. Grateful to see the Alliance respond with evidence rather than emotion.

Prime Minister Edmund Mahon delivered a public statement:

“The Kumo Council’s opportunistic attempt to profit from the horrors of a Thargoid invasion is a truly despicable act. But it has not gone unnoticed that they have suffered setbacks in Haithis, Kolabinates and Saontiana since this misguided effort to disrupt Allied operations."

"I am grateful to the communities within the California Nebula, and to those independents who aided them, for resisting these criminals.”

The Prime Minister has gained my respect due to his direct statement on the matter.

We are equally grateful for the direct acknowledgement of our actions to protect Turner Research Group alongside our Alliance & Independent partners. The assets were fortunately returned to TRG before the Community Goal was completed, which hopefully enabled the Alliance to better understand how Kumo Council was able to illegally obtain control of the facilities, circumventing due-process. This has potential to spark serious motivation throughout our Organization and beyond. We will continue to watch closely and react where appropriate.

It seems apparent that Kumo populations across multiple systems are becoming increasingly uncomfortable with their leader's approach to expansion. An allegiance to a Pirate King may not prove as fruitful as originally expected, but you didn't hear that from me.

“My message to Archon Delaine is this: The Alliance is watching you.”

And so are we…
