First off, thank you for focusing on devolving our beautiful worlds! 1.7 was one of my favorite updates as it gave so much diversity to the world, and after seeing what 1.13 did for the oceans (which used to be one of the least interesting biome, to now one of the most diverse biomes yet!) I’m excited to see what you are bringing to these biomes, but whichever gets focused on first here are some things I think need to be addressed to ensure that the update is a success!
Add animals/wildlife with purpose! When you add a new passive mob(s) cuz you will… don’t just add mobs to exist.
Polar bears are an example I think of, they were a unique mob but lacked any sort of purpose (besides protecting their young) they also didn’t have a unique drop (not saying all new mobs need them, it’s just fun to have them) but add mobs that will make them stand out. We don’t want filler noise, we want interaction that gives players a fun experience and adds life to the game.Blocks need variation for both farmers and builders!
Minecraft is made of blocks obviously, so when updating these biomes make sure to add new things to spice them up! Would the oceans been fine without coral blocks? I don’t think so. You added coral but you added variations. 5 colors with dead variations too! Not too mention all the different types of plants you can get with the little coral and their fans! If you’re gonna add a new plant to these biomes, don’t just add one thing for it. For example if your going to be updated Savannah’s why not add yet another tree type? Sure we have Acacia and their special, and I may not live in Africa but I can assure you other types of trees exist their (off the top of my head I believe they’re called BoaBoa trees? Maybe add those? Just something!) people won’t complain that you added another tree, I remember when Dark Oak and Acacia were added people rejoiced!
So when considering new blocks give us something with variations, wether it’s through multiple colors of something or adding a plant with growth stages (such a a cactus flower that grows like cocoa beans) just give players new things with interactions that will make players want to use/have them.Structures/the mobs associated with them
I don’t have too much to say with this one just consider adding a structure with some news blocks incorporated with them. Or give them loot that will make people want to go visit them. The ocean ruins were kinda lame until the treasure maps were added. A special treasure. The fossils were made of a new block but had nothing special to them. They were just noise to be heard. If you’re going to add a structure or two to these places consider making them special by adding mobs or loot only associated with them! People visit mansions for their cool looks and they’re unique mobs (they may also have totems of undying but I think those have their own problems that could be addressed but that’s for another time) something that people love about ocean monuments is prismarine and the cool blocks you can get from them. Consider adding blocks to these structures that are cool, variented, and RENEWABLE either from the structures themselves or from the mobs that live in them. Coral reefs are fun and I understand that reefs IRL are dying but when you add new stuff just consider making their blocks renewable like Monuments.
That’s all I wanna day for now. Feel free to say what you like or dislike for my suggestions. I’m super excited for this update and hope to see things develop for the future! I’m excited for 1.14 good luck developers! And thanks for reading my really long post.
TL;DR
New useful mobs
New useful blocks
New useful structures
Please 🙂
