PSA for any CMDR that uses TARGET for Thrustmaster dual sticks

To start off, its been about 6 months since I last played. Been off due to the optimization issues at stations w/ Odyssey. Recently got the craving for some ED mining. I had recently upgraded my storage and OS (running Win 11-Preview due to driver issues on Win 10), so I decided I should prob update all my drivers and software for my HOSAS setup just to be on the safe side. Went to the Thrustmaster Support site to download that latest version TARGET. As I hovered over the install, saw that the release date was def new (at least since I last played), clicked download and installed it. On a whim, I decided to check the driver dl on the Thrustmaster site as well, just to be safe. It came up as recently updated as well. Hit download and installed it. I had uninstalled my previous drivers before doing so.

All seemed to install without a hitch. Restarted for good measure and relaunched all my programs. After I hit run profile in TARGET GUI, the profile launcher started having a problems with detecting my T.16000M sticks, would get stuck and then ultimately fail. For the life of me, could not figure out what went wrong.

I spent the next several hours troubleshooting everything I could think of as well as whatever the Thrustmaster devs had thought of in their general troubleshooting guides. Being at my wits end, I decided to hit the forums to see if anyone else had this very specific issue. Turns out yes (but for a different reason). Found out that for some people, the drivers you download directly from the Thrustmaster site, can cause all sorts of HID recognition issues for their sticks and TARGET. The fix was simple. Uninstall the drivers I got from the Thrustmaster site and let Windows do its thing when installing the drivers itself.

Can't tell you why this works, but it does. After hours of head scratching and rage-inducing IT on my issue, I was definitely a little peeved that the problem was had such any easy fix…

TL,DR: If your TARGET GUI is having issues with recognizing you HOSAS setup, make sure you uninstall any drivers you may have downloaded directly from the Thrustmaster site. That might fix all your problems (at least it did for me).

Hope this helps any CMDRs out there facing a similar issue and are frustrated that they can't use their spiffy HOSAS to fly in virtual Space for hours on end. o7 CMDRs
